Make your Acai Bowl tastier and healthier with toppings

Quick Bliss Acai Bowls

Hey! Hey! You decided to try Açaí.

Well done to you! The health benefits of Açaí are pretty well known. More research is being done on how Açaí can improve your health, but we know it is packed with vitamins and minerals, including Omega 3, 6, and 9. The berries are high in fibre and antioxidants, which are great for overall health and well-being. Acai berries are also low in calories. The average serving – about a cup, has zero fat and is about 120 calories, or about 500 kilojoules.

A healthy breakfast or snack

Most of our customers come in for a bowl or a smoothie for breakfast, and most of them say that Açaí fills them up, gets them going for the day, and satisfies them for longer …. Which is excellent if you’re watching what you eat, either just trying to be healthier or lose a few kilos. You’ll forget all about that mid-morning snack!

Açaí (pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”) has an unusual flavour – but the great thing is that it can be paired with both savoury and sweet accompaniments, depending on what you like. The most popular ways to eat Açaí are in a smoothie or an Açaí cup or bowl. So, you add ingredients to your blender or top your acai blend.

Best toppings!

When choosing your toppings, given that Açaí is such a healthy base, we recommend you select healthy toppings, too, so you can create a breakfast or a snack jam-packed with nutrients. Smoothies are fantastically made with bananas because the texture of bananas makes them smooth and creamy. If you don’t like bananas, swap them out for avocado, giving you the same texture.

Choose nut milk for additional flavour and if you have a sweet tooth, throw in a sweet fruit like pear, and add a touch of honey, maple syrup, or vanilla extract. In the hot months, throw in an ice cube or two.

If you’re making a bowl, you still want to make the smoothie, but the trick to a great bowl is making the smoothie ‘less drinkable’ and more ‘paste-like’ in texture but not too thick.

Another popular ingredient is – peanut butter! Or a coffee flavour like chicory extract or even a little grated dark chocolate. And then go wild!

Fresh seasonal fruit, nuts, seeds, and yogurt are great options. Toasted coconut and granola also make great toppings. Again, choose a natural sweetener like honey if you like it sweet, and if you do, that’s ok; Açaí tends to have a natural ‘tart’ flavour, which can be pretty strong until you get a taste for it – most people like it a little sweeter. Because they’re so colourful you can have some fun making your bowl look completely mouth-watering. Instagram certainly has plenty of inspiration!

Looks good, tastes good, and it’s good for you!

Acai bowls can be made to look mouth-watering. They look fantastic served up in a half coconut shell, too … and you can leave a little coconut inside the shell to eat along with the Açaí.

There are so many unique ideas. We’re coming up with new ones all the time. We have a standard menu, and all of the items on this menu are very popular, but our customers often ask for unique ingredients they’d like to try, and if we have them on hand, we’re happy to oblige.

So pop on in; we’re happy to talk toppings. And we’re thrilled to support your health journey.
